The limitations are real: if the number belongs to a private individual who has never published it online, Google will return nothing. But for professional or fraudulent numbers, this method yields results in the majority of cases.
Reverse directories and mobile apps: what really works for 09 numbers
Reverse directories like Pages Jaunes or 118 712 remain a logical reflex. You enter the number, and the service searches for a match in its database. For 09 numbers, the responses vary: if the owner has agreed to publish their contact details, the result will display. Otherwise, the directory returns a blank page.

Since 2023, the CNIL has reminded that services that scrape 09 numbers (often linked to boxes or VoIP) to enrich marketing databases violate GDPR.
